FY 99/00 KMVT FACILITY UPGRADE - NARRATIVE
The following narrative explains in detail what we will be doing to the KMVT facility for the upgrade! This upgrade has been a long time coming and the staff truly appreciates everyone's patience. There are a lot of exciting things happening here at KMVT. As you read through this document, please familiarize your self with the major equipment that we will be installing in each room. Attached to this narrative you will find the Master Facility Room Layout and the exciting Pinnacle gear that we will be adding to each room. GENERAL
FACILITY WIDE NT-BASED NETWORK - The entire facility and all its rooms will be connected via an NT-based local area network (LAN). The LAN hub computer will be housed in Engineering. The ability to have all rooms "talk" to one another will provide for the greatest technological flexibility in the future. All office and production computers will be connected to the LAN. The LAN will significantly improve station operations and give producers creative flexibility.
FACILITY WIDE AUDIO/VIDEO ROUTER SYSTEM (AVRS) - The
ability to send audio and video signals from playback to all rooms
is also critical to providing the widest production flexibility
possible. A large central analog router (not unlike the current
12X12 matrix switcher in playback, but 32 X 32) housed in playback
will be the central hub for all the rooms. An audio/video signal
can be sent from any one room to any other via this router. The
station already has this flexibility to a degree, but each room
is not mutually exclusive.
